The piles of tiny driftwood along the lake are reminiscent of ossuaries. The beach’s bone piles. They remind me, we too are of the earth. Our bones will lay out, bleach in sunlight, lay out & hold light, like this sun catcher does. Perhaps our literal bones will do just that, or perhaps, these pieces are symbolic of the memories kept lit by those we’ve touched with our light. This suncatcher reminds me of quilts & stained glass and the light from my ancestral family bright in me.

This project was partially inspired by Mother’s Day. And the beach of course!
